40th Annual International Human Science Research Conference

Main Theme

Intercorporeality: (Re) Connecting people beyond social distance

Three years have passed already since the first outbreak of the Covid pandemic. Slowly but steadily, many areas of the world are returning to normalcy, though it seems to take more time for us to see its proper end. During these years, we have become accustomed to working remotely, giving online courses, and participating in online conferences. Although they have become important parts of our social lives, we also recognized the impact and importance of meeting others in person beyond social distances. Therefore, we decided to hold the 40th IHSR conference in Tokyo as an on-site event. The conference theme is “Intercorporeality: (Re)Connecting People beyond Social Distances.” Let us reestablish connections among human science researchers here in Tokyo. As in past conferences, the 40th conference is open to scholars from different countries and diverse cultures, languages, and disciplines to share their research and discuss phenomenology-related issues. Although we would like to emphasize the importance of embodiment and intercorporeality in human science, any topic on phenomenology-based research, including psychology, education, nursing, psychiatry, and philosophy, is welcome as a conference presentation. We look forward to listening to your presentations as well as meeting you in person!
